Presented by Tara Cavo, LPCC

Course CEDL.0139.2.0

The adolescent population is a unique one for many reasons, and providing mental health treatment for them can be a rewarding, but challenging journey. This presentation will explore some of the more common diagnoses and mental health issues among teens, as well as ways to diagnose and develop treatment goals. At the same time, we will examine how to include the client as an active participant on this journey and build a strong therapeutic relationship in which they feel safe and have the space to learn, grow and achieve their mental health goals. This presentation will also include a variety of specific interventions and exercises that can be used in your session with teen clients.

Learning Objectives:

  • Review unique aspects of therapy with adolescents, as well as common mental health issues and topics among this population.
  • Explore multiple diagnostic tools and development of treatment goals to be used in collaboration with the adolescent client.
  • Identify a variety of positive skills to cultivate in an adolescent client to aid them in addressing mental health challenges, as well as specific exercises and strategies to help them do so.
  • Learn 10 different interventions and/or activities to incorporate into clinical sessions to work on common mental health goals for teens.

2.0 hours of continuing education credit will be available to those who complete the entire course presentation, take and pass the post-test (70% of questions, at a minimum, must be answered correctly), and complete a course evaluation.
