As a clinician, have you been curious about EMDR? Have you wondered how EMDR went from being pseudoscience to one of the best evidence-based treatments for trauma? Would you like information on where to start your EMDR journey? If so, this presentation is for you! In this webinar, we will discuss the history of EMDR, review evidence-based studies on EMDR, gain a better understanding of the three-stage approach, the 8 phases of EMDR, learn about the important acronyms used in EMDR (AIP, RAS, SUD, VoC, DAS, BLS) and discover available options for EMDR training.

Learning Objectives:

  • Acquire a brief history of EMDR
  • Explain how EMDR went from pseudoscience to an evidence-based treatment
  • Review the theoretical model underlying EMDR (AIP)
  • Obtain a better understanding of the neurobiology of memory formation (RAS)
  • Describe the three-stage approach to EMDR treatment
  • Understand the basics of the 8 Phases of EMDR
  • Define EMDR key words such as SUD, VoC, Target Sequence Planning, DAS, and BLS
  • Gain an understanding of various EMDR training options

2.0 hours of continuing education credit will be available to those who complete the entire course presentation, take and pass the post-test (70% of questions, at a minimum, must be answered correctly), and complete a course evaluation.
