Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP):

Oversees and provides the provision of psychiatric and mental health services, both diagnostic and psychopharmacological, to residents in long-term care facilities (nursing homes), children in school or outpatient settings, and/or individuals with developmental disabilities in community settings.

Qualifications

  • Master's or Doctoral Degree in Nursing with a specialty in Psychiatric Mental Health
  • Board-certified as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) through ANCC
  • Licensed in the State of Ohio as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) with prescriptive authority
  • Valid driver's license, car insurance, and reliable transportation
  • Preferred: Existing collaborative agreement with physician

Job Description

  • Perform and document comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and assessments of mental health needs of clients
  • Diagnose psychiatric conditions and prescribe, manage, and monitor psychotropic medications and other pharmacological treatments as clinically indicated
  • Develop treatment plans/individual service plans and address the needs of clients and implement interventions to meet these needs. Services may include ongoing psychiatric medication management, psychotherapy, and community psychiatric support therapy when clinically indicated. Evaluate client progress on an ongoing basis
  • Participate as appropriate in interdisciplinary team meetings for assigned clients
  • Collaborate with therapists, other agencies, family members, and other relevant parties involved in the client's care
  • Make appropriate referrals to other service providers to ensure that the client's psychosocial and psychiatric needs are addressed and to provide for optimal post-discharge care
  • Complete all documentation of services per applicable government regulation, company policy, and professional standards
  • Participate in appropriate orientation and training opportunities to improve clinical skills and increase knowledge of applicable regulations and psychiatric best practices
