History and ABC’s of Play Therapy

4 CE Credits

This training will be offered in person and online, with APT regulations in the future, please note that online training will count toward non-contact hours. Participants will review the history of play therapy and the essential foundations of Child-Centered Play Therapy.  They will discuss the essential qualities of play therapists, steps of play therapy, and demonstrate the child centered play therapy approach in action. Participants will learn how to identify and respond to play therapy behaviors in session, and identify themes within the scope of child centered play therapy sessions.

About the presenter:

Elizabeth Wager is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor Supervisor (LPCC-S) and a Registered Play Therapist Supervisor (RPT-S). Her career in mental health started in 2007 providing crisis counseling with suicidal, homicidal, or actively psychotic clients through the E.R. department, county jail, and outpatient therapy.  In 2010, she took her passion of play therapy into the outpatient setting and into schools.  Elizabeth currently provides school-based counseling in Middletown, OH.

Revitalizing the Play Therapist Within Using Nature in the Play Room

This one day experiential training will focus on using nature in the play room.  Through directive play therapy approaches, mindfulness, and exploring the mind-nature connection, play therapists will experience and practice techniques to use with their clients and families.  This training while renewing the inner play therapist, will also focus on the research of nature as a means of healing, using it in play therapy, and how to apply it in practice.  Play therapists should come ready to learn and get their hands dirty.
